North Korea today launched a new intercontinental missile test Wednesday. It spans the distance of 4,500 kilometers to the territorial waters of Japan. North Korea claims it can hit the mainland of the United States. US Defense Secretary James Mattis said the country has become a threat to the world.
BBC Online reports, the missile was launched early this morning. The South Korean army says the missile goes into the waters of Japan with an angular distance of 4,500 kilometers.
North Korea did not make any comment about launch of missile.
Pyongyang launches intercontinental missiles before September last. It was North Korea's sixth missile test. Despite global condemnation and sanctions, there have been allegations of ongoing nuclear tests and missile tests against North Korea.
The United Nations Security Council has urged an emergency session on launching the North Korean missile's latest missile.
US Defense Secretary Mattis said the North Korean missile is much more powerful than any other time. The ballistic missile has been threatening everywhere in the world by North Korea, he said.
The White House says they are monitoring the issue.
North Korea will not accept such provocative behavior, Japan said. South Korea condemned launch of this missile.
